Acoustics of new café-restaurant designed to
combat the Lombard effect. With hard flooring
and three walls almost entirely of glass this
presented a challenge but the target
reverberation time, derived from the concept of
‘acoustic capacity’, was achieved with a ceiling
of carefully selected wood-wool panels.

Assessment of the impact of corona discharge noise from 400 kV transmission lines. Noise levels vary considerably depending on the atmospheric humidity and also on the smoothness of the conductors. Corrosion or atmospheric debris increases the noise level.
